What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a customized treatment option created for Willow patients who require a more tailored approach to GLP-1 therapy. Ideal for those whose health profiles or treatment goals call for clinically guided personalization, this compounded formulation is designed in collaboration with your Willow doctor as part of your individualized care plan.

At its core is Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist used as part of a comprehensive weight loss treatment plan.

Each formulation is personalized to align with your goals, physiology, and wellness journey. This is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s your treatment, made for you. Your journey is personal. Your medication should be too.

Compounded semaglutide is not approved by the FDA, and the FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality. These medications are prepared by state-licensed compounding pharmacies that operate under state board of pharmacy oversight and are required to meet USP compounding standards.

What is the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are both medications used for weight loss, but they have distinct differences.

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which helps to regulate blood sugar by enhancing insulin secretion, slowing gastric emptying, and promoting satiety.

Tirzepatide's dual-action formula targets both incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), supporting glucose control and weight loss.

The science behind Semaglutide

When you eat, the food stimulates your gut to release the GLP-1 hormone. GLP-1 helps lower blood glucose (blood sugar) by triggering insulin release. Insulin helps blood glucose enter your body’s cells for later energy use.

The gut doesn't always produce enough GLP-1 on its own to fully trigger these signals.

Semaglutide is a synthetic GLP-1 RA (receptor agonist). A drug that works as an agonist activates the same cell receptors as the body’s natural hormones. Semaglutide works in the gut like the body’s natural GLP-1, slowing digestion, curbing hunger, and signaling fullness to the brain.

How does it feel to take Semaglutide?

Willow patients report:

Fewer random snack cravings throughout the day

Smaller portions feeling just as satisfying as large ones used to

The feeling of being full lasting longer after meals

Worried about side effects?

Some patients may experience side effects while on Semaglutide. The most common ones is nausea. While these side effects can be bothersome, the good news is that they usually subside over time.

Your doctor will help find the best treatment, gradually increasing the dosage for weight loss and comfort. If you have any issues, they’ll adjust the plan. Just send a message! — No appointment required.

Your doctor can also prescribe generic Zofran (Ondansetron) if needed. This optional anti-nausea medication can help with side effects.

Questions we hear everyday

Do I need to make changes to my diet with Compound Semaglutide?

We believe in a sustainable and flexible approach to nutrition, without imposing limitations on your diet. Our goal is to guide you in establishing healthy eating habits, complemented by the medication's ability to decrease appetite and 'food noise.' We encourage maintaining a nourishing, high-protein diet, and many patients report losing weight without needing uncomfortably restrictive dieting or calorie counting.

What are the side effects for Semaglutide?

Common side effects of semaglutide are usually mild and may include:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Diarrhea

• Constipation

• Abdominal pain

• Decreased appetite

• Indigestion

The majority of side effects are transient and typically resolve spontaneously. Nevertheless, if side effects persist or deteriorate, seek guidance from a healthcare professional.

Willow also offers Odansetron to manage side effects if they occur. This medication is commonly used to prevent nausea and vomiting.

Semaglutide Patient Safety Information

What happens if I stop the medication?

When stopping  Semaglutide abruptly, some patients may experience mild to moderate weight gain. Others may maintain the weight loss they achieved while on the medication. We recommend patients work with their Willow physician to slowly decrease their dose in order to maintain their weight loss achievements.

You may notice an increase in appetite and a return of food cravings, allowing you to eat more without feeling as full. However, stopping Semaglutide is a safe and common practice that doesn't involve serious health risks. By gradually tapering off the medication with your physician’s guidance, you can better manage these changes and maintain your health and wellness goals.

How do I take Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is administered once a week via a subcutaneous injection. Don’t worry! The needle is very small and short, making self-injection quick & easy. We’ll provide you with detailed written and video instructions that make the process simple and easy to follow. We even include a link to a soothing Spotify playlist to play in the background if you wish.

"I'm a registered dietitian and know how to eat healthy and exercise but I gained 20 pounds after menopause and had a tough time getting that weight off. I used the injectables and within 5 months have lost 20 pounds. I have a regular biking/walking program now that it's summer so with diet, meds and exercise, the weight has come off nicely. Customer service has been great and responses within 1 day. Great experience all around!"
Becky U.
"Willow is hands down the best decision I've made for my health! The semaglutide injections have made it so much easier to lose weight, I don't feel hungry all the time, and I don't obsess over food anymore. I've lost 30 lbs, and I'm feeling more confident every day. Plus, their customer service is fantastic! 10/10 recommend!"
Ana O.
"'I'm actually switching back to these guys from another company. Their medicine is so much more effective than other "bargain" sites. Their customer service is great and I truly feel valued. I am glad I'm making the switch back. When you think something is too good to be true, it probably is. That's why I think Willow's pricing and product quality are absolutely the right match."
Meagan N.
"I received a quick response from all involved. Since I am on maintenance and not starting from the beginning of my weight loss journey, I was surprised my inquiry was welcomed. Several other web sites did not want to even talk about my goals as they were only willing to prescribe for starting BMI and not look at maintaining that weight lost!"
Linda K.
"I was 100% satisfied with the experience, then Willow managed to improve the experience even more when a non-weight loss related issue came up suddenly. I could not have asked for better response time & actions taken. I'm so happy I chose Willow given all of the providers out there."
Susan K.
"Nothing but a good experience with Willow. I'm almost to my goal weight. I've lost 25 lbs. From the doctors to the staff everyone is great and very responsive. I've referred a friend and she is having a great experience too. Highly recommended!"
Olga C.
"I've been using Willow for 4 months now and although they are a bit more expensive than other sites for GLP, I am sticking with them because I appreciate the fast response and personal physician care. Many other sites just dole out meds unsupervised and it's impossible to get a hold of a human. I also feel like their GLP combo with Vitamin B is really helpful."
Meg T.
"Really good experience with the Willow team. They understood my issues and helped me stay motivated. The options are easy and the meal suggestions are tasty which easily helps when trying new things. It has been more about learning way of life and habit building for me so this was all really helpful."
Rudi V.
"I've had such a great experience from start to finish. The customer service is outstanding (thanks Mallory) and every question I had for the doctor or the team was answered quickly and with real care. Thanks to their support, I've reached my goal and finally lost the weight I couldn't lose on my own. I highly recommend them to anyone on a similar journey!"
Romy H.
"This is the first time in YEARS that I've enjoyed looking in the mirror! I've lost 22 lbs, but more than that, my confidence has been restored. The support from their team is amazing (shoutout Jethel and Dr Green), and I love how easy it is to adjust shipments. Seriously, if you're on the fence, just go for it!"
